About Propel

Propel is introducing a new solution to the NGO sector: an innovative way for organisations to build collective memory and use collective knowledge. Propel is a SaaS platform that enables organisations to easily capture, access and apply lessons and knowledge they develop during project implementation. The tool guides the learning journeys of organisations throughout project implementation and enables them to reflect on their assumptions, learn what works and use these learnings for strategic decision-making to build organisational memory.

Mission and Scope

Propel aims to enhance knowledge-sharing, efficiency, and effectiveness through learning across development cooperation, with a specific focus on NGOs, UN agencies, foundations and various other entities. It sits at the intersection of technology and global impact. You'll be reaching out to people who genuinely care about what they do, including programme managers, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning leads, knowledge management specialists, and helping them solve a real, persistent problem.

We're trusted by organisations in the humanitarian and development sector and have generated interest in the field. Now we're looking for the right fit to support our sales efforts to help us reach more impact-driven organisations around the world.

Role Overview

We are an ambitious team with the goal of making Propel a standard across the sector.  Hence, we are expanding our sales team and seeking a highly experienced and motivated sales expert in this field who is up for the challenge. This position is on a freelance consultancy basis. You will be responsible for identifying, nurturing and closing new accounts with NGOs, INGOs, development organisations, and donor-funded programmes. This is a full-cycle sales role, from outreach and discovery through to demo and close, with strong support from our team on product knowledge and materials. Having the specific combination of experience in the NGO sector and with SaaS is a major plus.

This is a remote, freelance/independent contractor position, ideal for someone based in a region with a strong NGO and international development presence.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Identify and reach out to potential users: NGOs, INGOs, development agencies, humanitarian organisations and donor-funded programmes
  2. Run discovery conversations to understand their knowledge management and learning challenges
  3. Lead product demos to showcase how our product contributes to their impact
  4. Own the pipeline from first contact to signed contract
  5. Provide regular pipeline updates and feedback from the market

Who You Are

  • Solid experience selling SaaS or professional services, ideally to NGOs, development organisations or the broader social impact sector
  • An existing network in our primary market: the humanitarian, international development, or knowledge management space, is a strong plus
  • Consultative, relationship-first sales approach with strong consistency and proactivity
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own pipeline
  • Fluent in English; additional languages relevant to your region are a bonus

What We Offer

  • Vibrant Work Environment: An energetic, young atmosphere in a remote team.
  • Fair Compensation: month-based retainer plus 20% commission on all closed deals.
  • Networking Opportunities: Expand your professional network in international development.
  • Flexible Working: Freedom to customise your work week.
